Pella Christian’s cross country runners put up a strong showing this past Thursday evening at the Johnston Dragon Invitational, completing a loaded early week of competition that saw the Eagles’ compete in three meets in six days.  Both squads finished in seventh place in the team standings.  In the girls race, Pella Christian was able to score 169 points, just five points behind sixth-place Saydel.  Gilbert won the team title with 37 points.  With Leah Breon unable to finish, the duo of Marina Shannon and Demaris Worthington again led the way for the Lady Eagles, as the two sophomores finished within five seconds of each other for 31st and 34th places, respectively.  The boys race saw Jacob Lensing again lead the way for Pella Christian, as he claimed 18th place individually.  As a team, the Eagle boys scored 175 points.  North Polk claimed the team title with 32 points.  The hectic schedule for the Pella Christian cross country team continues on Tuesday, as the teams will run at a meet hosted by Oskaloosa.
