Pella High School graduate has signed a contract extension that will keep him playing professional rugby in Europe.  Paul Emerick has re-signed with the London Wasps, the team he signed a short-term deal with last February.  The contract for the upcoming season will mark the ninth year Emerick has been a professional rugby player.  In that time, he’s been one of the most-travelled players in Europe, having played for two clubs in Italy, the Newport-Gwent Dragons in Wales, and for Ulster in Ireland before being picked up by the London Wasps.  The former University of Northern Iowa All-American is by far the longest-tenured professional American back.  The record for most seasons by an American playing as a pro is credited to Luke Gross, who played for twelve seasons in the United Kingdom and Italy.  Paul Emerick’s new contract will last the entire Aviva Premiership season, which lasts until mid-May of next year.
