An accident at the intersection of Lincoln and Larson in Knoxville shortly before noon sent two to the hospital. The Knoxville Police Department reports that a vehicle driven by Charles Smith of Knoxville was headed southbound on Lincoln when he ran a red light and struck a golf cart traveling east on Larson to cross Lincoln. There were four people on the golf cart, a married couple from Illinois and two children. The man suffered minor scrapes, and the woman and a child were transported to Knoxville Hospital and clinics. According to a witness on scene, the child was standing on the sidewalk after the accident, then collapsed. The other child was unharmed. Smith was charged with failure to obey a traffic control device.
