Pella swimmer, Samantha Hedrick, set more records, and the team as a whole finished second at Saturday’s state qualifying swim meet. Newton finished second only to Ames by 168 points. Hedrick set a new pool and school record in the 100 meter freestyle, with her first place time of 53.64 seconds. Her 200 meter free relay team finished third and the 400 meter freestyle relay placed second, with a time of just over 3:43, also a new school record. Hedrick qualified for state in four different events: 50 meter freestyle, 100 meter freestyle, and the 200 and 400 meter freestyle relay races. The state swim meet is this Saturday, November 3, at the Marshalltown YMCA.
