Knoxville’s dreams of a playoff spot in class 3A were shot down by the running game of Oskaloosa as the Indians piled up 248 yards of total offense all on the ground and ruined the Panthers’ playoffs hopes in a 19-13 win. Oskaloosa controlled the game from the beginning getting on top by halftime 13-0. Knoxville came out in the third quarter an appeared primed for a comeback when Gerrit Davis found Ryan Douglas on a 36 yard touchdown pass. However, Osky would get the game clinching score midway through the fourth quarter to make it 19-6. Knoxville put the final points on the board with 22 seconds left when Davis connected with Douglas again, this time from 22 yards out. The Panthers onside kick was recovered by Oskaloosa the Indians ran out the clock. Knoxville Coach Troy Rider said the goal was to finish off the season with a win, but could not get that done. The Panthers would not have made the postseason regardless due to Norwalk’s win over Carlisle last night. Knoxville was led by Colton Spaur with 78 yards rushing, Ryan Douglas had 71 yards on four catches, and Gerrit Davis went 15/24 for 128 yards two touchdowns and one interception. Knoxville finishes up 4-5 on the season and 2-4 in Class 3A District eight.
