The Pella Hy-Vee will be hosting a health walk on October 3rd as part of the Healthiest State Initiative. Scott Johnson, Store Director at the Pella Hy-Vee, says that this walk began as a way for people to take ownership of their own health. The Healthiest State Walk Initiative encourages those who can’t make it to an organized walk to do a walk on their own, or with a few others, there is even a website to post small walks so an official number of walkers can be counted. The Pella Hy-Vee’s walk starts at West Market Park at noon. Students from Pella and Pella Christian Schools will be walking on their campus at various times throughout the day as part of this initiative.

People in Knoxville will also be participating in the healthiest state walks this Wednesday. Hy-Vee in Knoxville will be involved with a walk that starts at 10am at the Knoxville Recreation Center. Meanwhile, employees at Knoxville Hospital and Clinics will begin a walk at 12:30. Local walkers are invited to join in both walks. Each walk will be a one kilometer stroll, which is about 7.5 city blocks or around three-fifths of a mile.
