100 combined points and 936 combined total yards would make you think of recent Big 12 football games. However, that was last night’s eight-man first round contest between Melcher-Dallas and Colo-NESCO. Unfortunately for the Saints they were on the losing end of a 58-42 final ending their season in the first round of the postseason. The scoring got going early and often as both teams tallied 28 points by halftime on the strength of their biggest playmakers. Melcher-Dallas’s Trent Flescher scored on two of the Saints touchdowns with Quarterback Dalton Roland and receiver Kenneth Wadle scoring the others, while Brandyn Neimeyer from Colo-NESCO notched four of his six scores in the first half. The second half was where the Royals took control stopping Melcher-Dallas on four fourth down plays. Saints Coach Ryan Conrad said fourth down plays and not ceasing momentum were the keys. Trent Flescher carried the ball 45 times for 247 yards and had three touchdowns he also caught two passes for 38 yards. Dalton Roland was 12/20 for 207 yards two touchdowns and an interception. Neimeyer countered for Colo-NESCO with 291 yards on the ground. The Saints racked up 464 yards of total offense compared to 472 for Colo-NESCO. Melcher-Dallas ends its season at 7-2.
