Evan Jones was the top finisher for the Pella boys’ cross country team, Gabi Meirick was the top finisher on the girls side, as both teams finished in the top ten at the state cross country meet in Fort Dodge on Saturday. Jones’ time of 16:05 was good enough for sixth place overall on the boys’ side. The team finished with 74 points, just 12 behind first place Decorah. The Little Dutch’s top five runners all finished in the top 20. For the girls, Meirick’s time of 15:19 was good for 14th place overall, while the top five runners for the Lady Dutch finished in the top 60. The girls finished in seventh place as a team. The state meet marks the end of the 2012 cross country season for both schools.
