Despite playing just five days after the regular season ended last Friday, The Pella Christian Eagles will have a three hour drive to prepare themselves for their game tonight against St. Albert Council Bluffs. The Eagles finished regular season play at 6 – 3, and are playing an 8 – 1 Falcons team. Statistics wise, not a lot really jumps off the page as far as key standouts for the team. But Pella Christian Eagles head football coach, Rich Kacmarynski, said that it was the defense of the Falcons that has made them so successful. A big key to them pulling out a victory in this evening’s game will be containing the line up front, and according to Kacmarynski, slow the Falcons down. “I think we have to contain their speed,” the Eagles head coach stressed. “When they have the ball, we can’t let them get around on the edge, we can’t let them get vertical on us, so we have to contain their speed. Obviously, we have to match their physicality on the line of scrimmage.” You can catch tonight’s round one Class 1A playoff match between the Eagles and Falcons on FM 92.1 KRLS with Cory Houser providing the play-by-play. Pregame coverage starts at 6:30 p.m. and kickoff is at seven.
