Pella Christian Eagles head volleyball coach, Cindy Nikkel was proud of how hard her girls fought in every game they played, even against Class 5A schools throughout the season. She may be even more proud of how they fought in the course of all the wins and losses. Nikkel told KNIA/KRLS sports that because there were so many new people on the court for her team and she had to shuffle their positions around so often, it took her girls out of their comfort zones. The Eagles’ 2012 roster consisted of five seniors, five juniors, and six sophomores. For 2013, though, all of that experience will prove to be worth it for the Eagles’ volleyball squad. As they say, what doesn’t kill you makes you stronger, and though they were defeated by Eddyville-Blakesburg in the second round of the regional tournament last Tuesday, Pella Christian would get back up, as they had all season, dust themselves off, congratulate the other team, and look ahead to their next game, which, in this case, will be in August of 2013. The Eagles’ final 2012 record was 16 – 18.
