The Pella Fire Department and Pella Ambulance will be training for grain bin rescues today. Grain bin entrapment is a significant risk for farmers, and can happen in a variety of ways. Someone in the grain bin can be sucked in by the downward flow of grain, a wall of grain can collapse, and a bridge of grain can break leaving whoever is in the bin trapped in seconds. Emergency crews will be working with a rescue tube in their training. They will be out at the Fire Department today at 9am.
