The Lady Dutch had a couple home games last night to end their regular season play before heading into the Class 3A regional volleyball tournament this coming Monday. Pella started the night with a Little Hawkeye Conference match against Newton. The Lady Dutch held tough, but fell in five games, 25 – 23, 22 – 25, 28 – 26, 23 – 25, and 12 – 15. None of the games were decided by more than three points. Pella volleyball head coach, Catie Brand, said that the point in the fifth game that tipped the scales in favor of Newton, was her team’s inability to attack back following the serve. Her girls would come back to win their match against Centerville, sweeping in two sets 25 – 12 and 25 – 13. Pella finishes the year at 18 – 16, and will face Newton this Monday in the opening round of the Class 3A regional tournament.
