A quiet few weeks weather-wise looks to come to and this weekend as meteorologists are predicting heavy rain and thunderstorms this weekend, including some that could be severe. The National Weather Service and AccuWeather both project more than an inch of rain falling in Marion County, starting tonight into tomorrow evening. The KNIA/KRLS Severe Weather Action Team is on alert and if severe weather strikes, we’ll give you non-stop coverage live on KNIA/KRLS.

A strong area of low pressure will lift out of the Southwestern U.S. and into the Central Plains Friday night through Saturday night. This system has the potential to bring widespread showers and thunderstorms to the region. Some thunderstorms may be strong beginning late Friday night through Saturday evening. Severe thunderstorms are also possible. Heavy rainfall is also possible with some of these storms.
