Though many may not be able to vote this November, a group of Knoxville residents pledged support and made their voices heard at this week’s City Council meeting. About a dozen teenagers told the Council that they were willing to help clean up vandalism at the skate park and ensure that it stays in good shape for continued use.

City Manager Harold Stewart says that city staff has never talked about shutting down the skate park and that they are continuing to look for ways to secure it from vandalism while keeping it as an asset for the community. He adds it was nice to see that kind of community response, especially from that demographic. Stewart said during Monday’s meeting that he’d be interested in having a couple of those skate park users involved in a further discussion on how to manage it going forward.
