After a competitive first set, the Twin Cedars volleyball squad handily won games two, three, and four, defeating Pleasantville and advancing in the first round of the Class 1A regional tournament last night. The Trojans took the first set 26 – 24 in a very back-and-forth affair. Twin Cedars head volleyball coach, Robin Knapp, told KNIA/KRLS sports that the game one loss seemed to propel her squad, as her girls came back to win game two by a score of 25 – 8. Games three and four weren’t close, either, with final scores of 25 – 13, and the clincher for Twin Cedars, 25 – 16. Leading the way for the Sabers was senior Alee Hugen with eight kills and seven aces. Junior Brittany Roby also contributed eight kills to the win. The loss ends the Trojans’ season. For their victory, Twin Cedars is rewarded with a trip to Sigourney to play in round two of the Class 1A regionals that takes place this Tuesday the 23rd at 7:00 p.m.
