The planned move to the South Central Conference will give Knoxville the chance to renew a few of the old rivalries when the Panthers were members of the South Central Conference. Knoxville Athletic Director Randy Wilson says they already have great relationships with schools like Chariton, Albia, and Centerville and play those three schools in nearly all sports. He adds some of the biggest crowds Knoxville has are when South Central Conference teams come to play Knoxville. Wilson says he is going into the new conference affiliation with a positive attitude and hopes fans will feel the same way. The South Central Conference schools still must vote to accept Knoxville’s application by a two/thirds majority. If accepted, the Panthers plan to start play in the fall of 2014.
