The Central Dutch women’s basketball team rolled to an easy victory, while the men had a late scare but held on, as both teams improved to 3 – 0 on the 2012-13 campaign. For the Dutch women, seniors Alyssa Schwartz and Nicole Strasko combined for 39 points, while the defense held Blackburn to under 30 percent shooting in a 73 – 59 victory. Strasko also added nine rebounds to the winning effort. The Central women’s basketball team is off to their best start since the 1994-95 season. For the men, they led by as many as 15 over Cornell in the second half, but eventually iced the game late with clutch free throws, in a 74 – 71 win last night. Men’s basketball head coach, Craig Douma, told KNIA/KRLS Sports, that his team let the Rams back in the game with some not-so-stellar defense and poor shooting in the second half. Both the Central men and women are sitting at 3 – 0 records heading into the Thanksgiving break. The men next play this Saturday at Eureka, while the women have a whole week off, playing next this Tuesday at home against North Central, Illinois.
