William Penn broke out on a 12 – 2 run late in the ballgame to hand the Central men’s basketball team their first loss of the season last night by a final of 92 – 83. The game was tied at 74 with a little over five minutes to play, when Taylor Stoutner for the Statesmen drained three shots from the perimeter in a two minute span giving his team an 86 – 76 advantage with under three to play. Four starters reached double figures for the Dutch in the defeat, led by Jake Winkler who had 26. Matt Greenfield added a double-double, 14 points and 10 rebounds, also in the losing effort. The Dutch men are 4 – 1 on the year and will stay in Pella to host Iowa Wesleyan this Saturday at 3:00 p.m., a game that will be broadcast on 92.1 FM KRLS.
