Despite starting the season with a 3 – 0 record, it’s not completely spotless for coach Craig Douma and his Central Dutch men’s basketball team. Following two 14-point wins over Monmouth and Fontbonne, Central hit the road for the first time against Cornell this past Tuesday. Though they did come away with a 74 – 71 victory, there were several times during the course of the second half that the Dutch men could have put the game out of reach, had they, according to head coach Douma, “executed” late in the game. Douma also told KNIA/KRLS Sports that now that the season has begun, it’s hard to find time to practice the “fundamentals” rather than focusing on how they will attack and defend against their next opponent. The Central men’s basketball team will next play this Saturday on the road at Eureka, then head home this Wednesday for a showdown against a dangerous William Penn team.
