Pella Christian boys’ head basketball coach, Larry Hessing, has a philosophy of splitting the season into thirds, and likes looking to see how his team improves after each “third” of the season. Hessing told KNIA/KRLS Sports that there’s one game during the first third that’s going to show him and his coaching staff what kind of a team they have in front of them.
“You know, that first game out at West Marshall is going to kind of measure where we’re at,” Hessing said. “West Marshall always has a fine tradition in basketball. They’ve got good athletes, a very fine returning player in Dunkan Ferch, and playing at West Marshall is always a challenge. I think that’s going to measure where we’re at right away.”
Hessing and his Eagles boys will tip-off their 2012-13 season against West Marshall on the road this Monday, with the JV game starting at 6:00 p.m., and the varsity teams beginning immediately after.
