The Central Dutch men’s basketball team will get another taste of home basketball while the Dutch women hit the road, as both teams will be in action later today. Central men’s head coach, Craig Douma, who won his collegiate coaching debut on Thursday over Monmouth, 96 – 82, will be looking to do more of the same today against Fontbonne. If there’s one thing Douma’s team will need to improve on from their Thursday game, it would be turnovers. The Dutch men turned the ball over 17 times in their victory, while Monmouth only committed 11 turnovers. The Central women will be hitting the road to Minnesota for their first away game of the season against Crown. Coach Mike Jacobsma’s squad is coming off a win themselves over Grinnell Thursday, 63 – 56. A big key to the game today against Crown will be stopping their hot three-point shooter.
“Crown has a really good three-point shooter,” Jacobsma said. “She can shoot at the NBA range. We have to locate her early in our transition defense, just so she doesn’t get a lot of looks. I expect our girls to know where she is at all times.”
That was Central women’s basketball head coach, Mike Jacobsma. The men tip-off their game at home at 3:00 p.m. while the women start at four.
