The communities of Pleasantville and Melcher-Dallas combined to collect nearly 1000 non-perishable food items during “The Hunger Game” food collection this past Tuesday at the Pleasantville vs Melcher-Dallas basketball games. Pleasantville was declared the winner of the competition by collecting about 700 items. As a result, current Melcher-Dallas elementary principal and former Pleasantville girls’ basketball coach Trevor Miller has to sweep the floor between games, where some of his former players take the opportunity to gently tease him. The food is now being donated to each community’s respective food pantry.
