The Knoxville Coaches vs. Cancer Classic is January 19th at Knoxville High School. While it has become virtually a year-long effort to pull off such a large event, Knoxville Girls Basketball Coach Jim Utiermarkt and Wife Angie have now begun to involve the girls in the work up to the big day. Utiermarkt says already over 400 letters have been sent out seeking donations and adds they already have a good start on the silent auction items. He says the community involvement has made the Knoxville Coaches vs. Cancer day one of the largest one-day event in the Midwest. Last year Knoxville raised over $45,000 for Cancer research, which for the second straight year was named the largest Coaches vs. Cancer event in the state of Iowa.
