The Knoxville School Board is meeting today at the Southridge Mall as part of a meeting exploring career academies. The schools in Warren County have teamed up with DMACC to put a career academy in the mall similar to the one currently in Newton. The school board is pursuing a similar agreement with DMACC to have programs in Marion County.

Knoxville students are eligible to attend the career academy in Newton and will be eligible to do so at the Southridge Mall as well; however, Superintendent Dr. Randy Flack says having something similar in Knoxville would eliminate much of the students’ driving and class time that’s missed. The board will learn Monday evening what options will be available at the Southridge career academy and what it can offer Knoxville students.
