The Class 3A state cross country meet may have been two weeks ago at Fort Dodge, but there’s still another race left to tackle for members of the Pella team. The Nike Team National Meet is in South Dakota, and it’s a great chance to experience high levels of competition outside of Iowa, according to Pella High head cross country coach, Doug Cutler.
“For all of these seniors, it’s one more time to step on the line together and race,” Cutler said. “It’s a great memory. It’s a chance to realize while we are one of the best in the state, there’s more than just Iowa. There’s some great runners in other states, and for those especially who are going to run in college, they’re getting a chance to see what that competition is going to look like.”
Cutler adds that in high school, his teams are running against the best in Iowa, but in college, they’ll be running against the nation’s best. The Little Dutch team traveled up to South Dakota today and will be racing at the Nike Team National Meet tomorrow.
