The holiday season really gets geared up in Knoxville tonight as the Living Windows and Lighted Parade event gets underway. Things get started at 5:30 with the lighting of the gazebo on the square. Knoxville Chamber of Commerce Director Larissa Van Donselaar says that Santa Claus will be at the gazebo to meet with kids from 5:30 to 7:00 before he has to get ready for the parade, which begins at 7:30. There will be a variety of family activities, and downtown stores will have extended hours to accommodate the crowds. The Big Red Radio will provide Christmas music to get everyone in the holiday spirit, going along with the theme of “A Musical Christmas.” The night will wrap up with the Lighted Parade, which will feature both Santa Claus and the Lil Big Red Radio. Streets in downtown Knoxville will be closed Thursday afternoon to set up for the event.
