The Nevada Cubs girls’ basketball team was able to scratch out a victory over the host PCM Mustangs last night by a final of 50 – 36. PCM head coach, Bret Grier, said that he was very impressed by how Nevada looked during both teams’ first game of the season, saying that they “looked in mid-season form” by the way they were running plays and playing defense. Helping keep the game close was sophomore Grace Telfer, who was the Mustangs’ top scorer, coming off the bench and scoring 13, while senior Kelsey Townsend added six. The Mustangs are at 0 – 1 to start the season, and will next play this coming Tuesday at Gilbert.
