Things did not go well for either Knoxville Basketball Squad last night in Monroe as P-C-M walked away with a 50-19 girl’s win and a 55-29 victory in the boys contest. The Mustang girls used a 16-4 first quarter to cruise allowing Knoxville only single digits in each quarter. P-C-M Coach Bret Grier said it was nice to get the first win of the season. Grace Telfor led a balanced scoring attack for the Mustangs with nine points, Abby Gilson and Kelsey Townsend had eight points. On the other side Knoxville Coach Jim Utiermarkt said offensively things went a little better, but defensively the girls showed their inexperience. Ashley Hawkshead led Knoxville with five points as the Panthers fall to oh-and-two on the season while P-C-M is one-and-two. In the boys contest, Knoxville led early but P-C-M used a 15-0 run in the first and second quarters to pull away and win 55-29. Mustangs Coach Fred Lorensen said defensively the first half went well. P-C-M was led by Michael Neff with 15 points and Alex DeWitte had 11. For Knoxville, Coach Jeff Larson said the shots were there, but for the second straight game would not go down. Knoxville was led by Ross Shelford’s nine points. Larson added that Shelford made several defensive plays. Knoxville is now oh-and-two on the season while P-C-M moves to two-and-oh. Both P-C-M and Knoxville have games tonight as the Mustangs travel to Greene County and the Knoxville boys will host Davis County, while the girls travel to Bloomfield.
