More than 400 people came in and out of the Pleasantville High School gym on Friday, helping provide food for those in need. Students, staff, and community members helped pack nearly 37,000 meals as part of the Meals from the Heartland program. Students in Dennis Oliver’s class originally intended to raise enough money to purchase and pack 10,000 meals, but support from the Pleasantville and Marion County communities allowed them to nearly quadruple that goal. KNIA/KRLS’s Lil Big Red Radio was there, broadcasting live at the event and playing music for the workers.
