Battling tough opponents all season long, the Pella Christian Eagles volleyball team will be returning several players who saw significant varsity playing time in several tough situations.Eagles head volleyball coach, Cindy Nikkel, told KNIA/KRLS Sports, that in the one-on-one meetings she has been having with her players, there’s been a topic that keeps coming up.
“What’s been kind of an overall theme is the players are excited about next year, and the sophomores are excited about the next two years,” Nikkel said. “That’s kind of a fun thing, because they’re ready. They’re chomping at the bit to say, ‘Yeah, what do you got for us in the off-season? What can we do? How do we get better?’”
Nikkel’s team has a lot to be excited for. They will be welcoming back Becca Gritters, who was in the top ten in the Little Hawkeye Conference in kills. Also returning for the Eagles, are Lauren Jungling and Tess Howerzyl, who combined for almost 100 service aces. In total, Pella Christian’s volleyball team will lose five seniors at the end of the school year.
