Twin Cedars will be facing a tough foe tonight when both the boys’ and girls’ basketball teams travel to Wayne tonight. For the Lady Sabers, their last game was 11 days ago when they beat Pleasantville 62 – 27. Alee Hugen reached the 1,000-point milestone in that game, and had a perfect night of shooting, making all 11 of her shots for a total of 22 points. The Falcons are also fresh off a big win, defeating Melcher-Dallas, 58 – 19 one week ago. Three Falcons’ girls were in double figures, including Brennan Banks, Olivia Byrns, and Breanna Fortune, all of whom are juniors. Twin Cedars’ head girls’ basketball coach, Justin Nolte, said that the atmosphere and physical style of play from Wayne will be the most challenging things for his team to overcome. Over on the boys’ side, both teams are making their season debuts in the contest. For Twin Cedars, head coach, Alan Stewart told KNIA/KRLS Sports that just like on the girls’ side, the Falcons’ boys are also very strong and tough in the post and also said if his guys down below can crash the boards, they have a good shot at opening the season with a win. The girls’ opening tip is at 6:30 p.m., and the boys’ game will start at its conclusion.
