It was a good night on the girls’ and boys’ side of the basketball court for Twin Cedars Tuesday night, as both teams walked out with a victory over Wayne. For the girls, it wasn’t pretty at times, but they did move to 2 – 0, winning 40 – 30 over the Falcons. Twin Cedars’ head coach, Justin Nolte, told KNIA/KRLS Sports, that he told his girls after the game that sometimes you have to win the ugly ones and feel good about it. Alee Hugen scored 14 points and grabbed 12 rebounds to head the attack, while Ayla Crosby also hit double digits with 13 points. The Sabers’ boys had an easier time against the Wayne Falcons, winning 63 – 40. Twin Cedars did have the running clock going in the second half, when head coach, Alan Stewart put his younger guys in for some playing time. Derek Springer and Otis Roby each bucketed 16 points for the Saints in the victory. The Twin Cedars’ girls are 2 – 0 on the young season, while the boys are off to a 1 – 0 start themselves, and will each travel to Murray for another girls/boys doubleheader this Friday.
