The 2011-12 Melcher Dallas Saints girls basketball team finished the season with a record of 9 – 13. Of the 13 losses, six of them were by less than ten points, and only two were by more than 20. When asked what it would take this season for his girls to be on the winning side of those close contests, head coach, Jon Suntken, said that his team will need to do the “little things,” such as rebounding, forcing tough shots, and making smart decisions with the ball on offense. Suntken also said that the very beginning of their schedule will be the true measuring stick for his team’s abilities, as they play a very good Wayne team at home, then, after the Thanksgiving break, hit the road for four straight at Moravia, Murray, Seymour and Chariton. Their home opener versus Wayne is this Tuesday.
