Keep your money local during Small Business Saturday. That’s the message Knoxville Chamber of Commerce Director Larissa Van Donselaar has. She tells KNIA/KRLS that small businesses are more in competition with the bigger retailers than they are each other. Many times, she explains, those small businesses actually work together, including in Knoxville. Van Donselaar says that a number of the successful events in community throughout the year are only made possible through support from businesses and organizations in the community that give their time and money to make it possible. By shopping local, she says you’re providing opportunities for you and your family down the line.
