It has been about eight months, but high school basketball will have its first tip-off tonight on the girls side when the Twin Cedars Sabers host the Pleasantville Trojans in the first official game of the 2012-2013 season. Twin Cedars Athletic Director and head girls basketball coach, Justin Nolte, had to scramble to find a make-up game after Bluegrass Conference school, Diagonal, had to drop out this season due to their inability to form a large enough team to compete. Trojans head coach, Aaron Fichter, said this first game will be a big test for his young team, and it will be interesting to see if his team can deal with pressure early in the ballgame. For Coach Nolte’s squad, he wants to see a fast pace tempo out of his girls to set the tone for the game against such a young team as the Trojans have. Tonight’s game is at Twin Cedars, with the varsity “main event” starting at 6:15 p.m. We’ll be having live reports throughout the night as the game progresses on 92.1 FM KRLS.
