Wells Pleased with Performance of Team at Jamboree

Melcher-Dallas Saints head boys basketball coach, Jim Wells, was very happy with how his team played in a “scrimmage” half of basketball this past Tuesday against Southeast Warren. Wells was able to give playing time to his entire varsity squad at some point during the game, and despite a “lid” over the basket during the first portion of the game, his team ended up “winning” the half of basketball over the Warhawks. In addition to the positives that Wells took out of the match, the Saints head coach was also happy with the ball handling his team displayed in their first taste of varsity action.
“I thought we actually handled the ball pretty well,” Wells said. “Kenneth Wadle was playing point guard for a lot of that first quarter, and he does a really nice job of handling the ball for us. We had a couple other guys play guard, and I thought they did a nice job, too. I’m not saying we didn’t have some turnovers, but they really surprised me. They took better care of it than I thought they would. Does that mean we’re going to do that on Tuesday? I can’t tell you that yet.”
The Saints will host Pleasantville this Tuesday in “The Hunger Game” to open up the season.
