The US Army Corps of Engineers Detailed their plans for the next 25 years at Lake Red Rock during an open house in Knoxville yesterday. The plan included three different components – environmental stewardship, recreation, and connecting the area to surrounding communities.

It included ideas on eliminating invasive species, protecting environmentally sensitive areas, expanding recreation opportunities, including horse and water trails, as well as expanding bike paths on Corps property both with the property itself as well as to the edges of the property to connect to other roads. A similar meeting will be held today in Pella from 9am-1pm at the Graham Annex Building at Central College. Corps representatives hope the public will take a look and make comments. More than 40 people stopped at the Knoxville meeting as of 4pm yesterday.
