2012 has seen some personnel shuffling at Habitat for Humanity of Marion County, but things keep on moving along. Lisa Crabbs became the new Executive Director after former Director Lisa Houser left to become the statewide Habitat Director. Crabbs was previously in the Community Outreach position, which is now being filled by Alyssa Vande Voort, a Central College graduate.

Crabbs says that they’ve dedicated four new or rehabilitated homes this year, and they have two more in construction at this time. This includes a home being dedicated today in Pleasantville. That public dedication takes place at 3pm at 410 East Monroe Street.

As the calendar flips to 2013, Crabbs says that they’re also putting efforts into new repair projects. She explains that not everyone has a need for housing, but some people can’t afford to fix things like leaking roofs. Crabbs hopes they’ll be able to fill another need in the community through these projects. Habitat for Humanity’s Dessert Theater Concert is scheduled for February.
