The Pella High girls’ basketball team has put together a couple of solid performances as of late. They fell to then No. 8 in the state Dallas Center-Grimes on Friday by just four points, 56 – 52. Tuesday night, the Lady Dutch shot better than 50 percent from the field in a 67 – 30 beat down of the Carlisle Wildcats. One thing is prevalent in those two games; Pella got out to fast starts, and head coach, Jerod Garland, told KNIA/KRLS Sports that he is very happy with the way his players are controlling the tempo of the game. The Lady Dutch had double-digit leads over both Carlisle and DCG for a majority of the first quarter in each game. Next up for the Pella girls is a visit from rival Grinnell on Friday to close out the 2012 part of the season.
