Law Enforcement agencies will be on the lookout for drunk drivers through the New Year’s holiday. Lt. Paul Haase will the Pella Police Department says that during holidays associated with increased alcohol consumption, they step up their enforcement. He encourages anyone who has consumed alcohol to use a designated driver, and encourages drivers to be mindful while they are on the road and report suspected impaired driving.

The Marion County Sheriff’s Office and Knoxville Police Department will also be out in higher numbers Monday as well to keep the public safe during New Year’s Eve. According to a recent study, about one in ten drivers are legally impaired during a typical weekend night. That number could be higher on a holiday such as New Year’s Eve. In addition to having a designated sober driver, law enforcement reminds the public to buckle up as well.
