During Monday’s Police standoff with an armed man near the water treatment plant, Central College went on lockdown. Central President Mark Putnam says that because of the proximity to campus they made the decision to lock down the college.He says when they are notified of a situation, a committee gets on conference call within seconds to make the decision. Classes are over at Central and only a few students were on campus and Putnam says they were able to contact each student by email or directly. Putnam says they had a problem with there text message system yesterday, but they new were everyone on campus was and were able to make sure each student and faculty member was in a safe location.
