It was a Mustangs sweep in Colfax-Mingo Tuesday night, as both the boys and girls had successful nights on the basketball court. PCM sophomore Courtney Van Houweling and senior Kelsey Townsend torched the nets as the pair poured in 26 points a piece. The Mustangs’ girls coasted to victory 71-48, improving their record to 4-4. Coach Bret Grier explained how the combo complimented each other in a tale of two halves. The PCM boys did their best to provide a blowout as well, jumping out to a 22-6 lead after 1 quarter. That lead would prove to be just enough to hold on as the Tigerhawks fought back, but lost to PCM 59-55.The Mustangs were led by Dillon Bruxvoort who scored 20 points, and 14 from Ethan Kain. Twenty point efforts from Austin Yokem and Byron Johnson kept hopes alive for the Tigerhawks, who hit two shots from downtown in the final seconds to trim their double digit deficit to four. Up next for the PCM boys’ and girls’ teams is a double header at home Friday night versus CMB.
