There wasn’t a lot to say about the defense department in Pleasantville last night, but it was enough for the boys squeak out a win, while the Trojans’ girls had trouble containing the Wayne Falcons in a loss. Trojans’ boys head coach, Tom Wilkins, said his guys didn’t play the best defense in the world on Tuesday, but their offense made up for it. The Trojans allowed Wayne to sink ten three-point buckets in a half-court offense, and they didn’t take their first lead of the game until there were under four minutes to go in the game. Trevor Zoss had another outstanding offensive performance, leading the way with 22 points, while junior Dylan Lauer scored 18 and Josh Luna had 14. The Pleasantville girls couldn’t stop a very good Wayne team, losing 63 – 36 in their game, dropping their record to 0 – 5 on the season. The boys’ record improves to 3 – 0 and each team will be facing formidable opponents in Martensdale-St. Mary’s in a girls/boys doubleheader that will be streamed live at kniakrls.com Friday evening.
