The Twin Cedars’ girls’ basketball team had an easy time, while the boys had a little trouble Friday night against Lamoni. The Sabers’ girls got off to a fast start and let their reserves do the rest in a 50 – 27 win. In fact, the Sabers didn’t score a single point in the fourth quarter, leading 50 – 20 after three periods. Senior Alee Hugen had an “off” night, bucketing 14 points while grabbing eight rebounds. Brittney Roby contributed 13 points and showed off her selfless play by also notching seven assists. The Lamoni boys would salvage the night for the school, as one of the top-ranked teams in the state took down the Sabers 79 – 56. The Lady Sabers are now at 5 – 0 to start the season, while the boys drop to 2 – 3. Both teams will join forces once again this Tuesday for a doubleheader at home against Seymour.
