It was a career night for Kenneth Waddle, while the Melcher-Dallas girls’ basketball team had trouble with a ranked Meskwaki squad, as the two teams split the girls-boys doubleheader on Saturday. The Saints’ girls dropped their second straight contest, this time to the No. 12 team in Class 1A, by a final score of 65 – 29. The boys, however, had four starters in double figures in a 78 – 62 victory. The Melcher-Dallas boys were emphatically led by Kenneth Waddle, who bucketed 34 points with eight field goals coming from beyond the arc. Ross Dawson had 17, and the Wetterling brothers each put up a ten-spot. The girls’ record falls to 3 – 6, while the boys climb back to even at 4 – 4, as the Meskwaki doubleheader was the last game on the 2012 portion of the schedule for the two squads, who will enjoy a nice, lengthy break until January.
