The Knoxville School Board approved a school-sponsored trap shooting club during their regular meeting last night. The club will be for kids in grades 9-12. Students will not be able to letter in it – the school board cited an earlier decision made with bowling as the reason. Bowlers were not able to letter until bowling was recognized by the Iowa High School Athletic Association. The board also heard from Northstar principal John Keitges about that building’s action plan. Northstar was designated as a school in need of assistance after being unable to meet proficiency standards laid out by No Child Left Behind. Keitges discussed the steps being taken in order to continue improving student scores and teaching resources.
