Off to good starts thus far, the Twin Cedars Sabers’ basketball teams have tough competition ahead of them against Lamoni tonight. The Sabers’ girls are 4 – 0 to start the season, and are on the heels of a victory by the narrowest of margins against Davis County on Monday, winning 47 – 46. Senior Alee Hugen has been the offensive spark plug for her team this season, leading the way with an outstanding average of 21 points per game, while the team as a whole is also hitting the glass hard, grabbing just under 34 rebounds per game. The Lamoni girls are 2 – 3 this season, and haven’t scored over 40 points in any game yet, and would appear to have a similarly difficult time against a stout Sabers defense. On the boys’ side, Twin Cedars is 2 – 1, also coming off a defeat of Davis County on Monday. Lamoni, however, is one of the top ranked teams in the state, and are 3 – 1 on the year. The Demons are led by Jeremy Deemer, who is averaging better than 20 points and 15 rebounds per game. Tonight’s Bluegrass Conference doubleheader tips off at 6:15 p.m.
