The Twin Cedars Sabers’ girls basketball team moved to 3 – 0, while the boys lost to one of the top teams in Iowa last night in their road trip to Murray. For the undefeated Sabers’ girls team, they came back from a ten point deficit in the second half to overtake the Mustangs, 56 – 52. Alee Hugen was the star scorer again, knocking in 20 points on 9-of-15 shooting. Ayla Crosby and Brittney Roby each had eight. The Sabers committed ten turnovers in the first quarter alone, but were still able to bounce back and keep the game close in the first half. On the boys’ side, Murray was giving the Sabers all sorts of fits, holding them to just 21 points, while the Mustangs scored 46, and finally put them away in the second half by a final score of 71 – 44. Eric Clark led the Sabers with ten points, Otis Roby had nine, and Dylan Springer contributed eight. The Sabers’ girls are now 3 – 0 on the young season, while the boys fall to 1 – 1, and will each play six of their next seven games at home, starting on Monday in a boy/girl doubleheader against Davis County.
