Pella High head girls’ basketball coach, Jerod Garland, was very pleased with the defensive effort his girls put out in their game against Carlisle, which saw them hold their opponents to 30 points in a 67 – 30 win. They were even able to prevent the Wildcats from reaching double digits in three of the four quarters, which, according to Garland, is a coach’s dream. He also told KNIA/KRLS Sports that his Lady Dutch have been doing a better job at expecting what their opponents are going to do with the ball next.
“I think our girls are getting better and better at anticipating that next pass,” Garland said. “We have a couple different defenses where we try and trap and try and get a steal out of that. They’re doing a nice job at anticipating.”
The Lady Dutch will enter the 2013 part of their schedule with a 2 – 5 record, and will first face Pella Christian on January 4.
