Pella Christian’s girls’ basketball team notched their tenth win of the season on Tuesday against a gritty Grinnell squad, and head coach Kevin Van Maanen had a lot of positives to take away from the victory. His team is shooting better, they’re playing more-and-more like a complete team, and he even feels like the girls are taking better care of the basketball.
“I was pleased,” Van Maanen said. “At times, I thought our offense was very patient; we were setting good screens for each other, and we also found Cori [Uitermarkt] inside. There’s glimpses of it that we’re really getting better and better. I still think we can work on it in practice in the next week and get sharper, but yeah, we are making improvements in that area.”
The Eagles did commit 18 turnovers in their game against the Tigers, but still were able to pull away with a double-digit win. The 10 – 3 Eagles are in the middle of an extended break, next playing on Tuesday at home against Newton.
